I approve of this even if it all but guarantees that Neal will in the very near future be the cause for a 4+ game losing streak

Oilers fans get arrogant like this every year, then mid way through the season they shut up real quick when they realize they are out of the playoff race. So please please enjoy this moment while you can!

Great blog btw, did you let oil90 put this together?

I was super pissed off when this trade happened. I knew this was going to happen. Neal cancelled his golf vacations and trained very hard in the off season. I was very happy to hear that. Even knowing that Tre still traded him. It’s still early, but my guess is you guys will be laughing all the way to the bank for years to come.

Neal was spoon-fed minutes on the top line and on the powerplay all year last season. The fault for his performance lays entirely with him, not the Flames or his linemates.

At least we should get that 3rd rounder off you guys

Out of almost 800mins at 5-on5, he spent 98mins w/ Monanhan, 158 w/ Backlund, 146 w/ Ryan and 336 w/ Jankowski. I'm not saying he didn't deserve his drop down the lineup but let's not pretend he was "spoon fed" minutes with Gaudreau. Lindholm earned that job early on and barely looked back.

As for the PP, same goes there. 16mins on w/ Monahan (21 w/ Gaudreau FWIW) and 95 on w/ Ryan, 83 on w/ Backlund.

Best article yet. This is how the Eric Francis article on Sportsnet should read.

This is beautiful

But part of me would really enjoy the exact opposite happening. Just for even more laughs.

This is when it helps to actually watch the games. Peters' regularly sent Neal out on the top line after the PK. You've also identified that he was primarily on PP2---good job--but he didn't even deserve that privilege.

He might not have been on line 1 every day (yikes to the team that needs Neal on line 1 ). The Flames gave him every opportunity to succeed, playing him for much longer and higher up in the lineup than he deserved (until he was finally a healthy scratch in the playoffs).

Anyway, keep rackin up the goals Neal! That 3rd rounder should be nice and close to the 2nd round

The sucker punch on Zadorov is suspension worthy.

And complete (frank)ing cowardice.

Idiot behavior like that gives the bed-poopters leverage to remove physicality from the sport.

"Regularly" which accounted for a whole 100 minutes over 60+ games = spoonfed? Seems like that term has lost the meaning it used to hold

No, they are not. You only think they are.

Lucic has no place in this league. Talentless goon. You are better off without him.

Nice stuff Sean hahaha, better get planning the parade eh? Blows me away when things finally start to go the right way, you Oil fans seem to find a way to bring that Karma broomstick right back up your arses. You guys never learn.

Thats fine, but again, I have no idea why a trade cant help both teams. But you may want to strain & try to remember the last playoff Oilers had & they did pretty good, in fact I thought they got jobbed by the officials in that Anaheim series myself. But what did they have going for them? They had Lucic, Kassian & Maroon playing at the top of their nasty selves games & opening up all kinds of space for their skilled players. Thats what I saw. The last 3 playoffs Flames have been in we have been so butter soft we were bounced quick. Lucic wont score the goals Neal will, geeze captain obvious, but Flames have a component we havent had for a long long time. I saw it in Ferland in the Vancouver playoff series but he couldnt keep it going against Anaheim because by then he had a concussion. So plan your parade, declare your victory in the battle of Alberta, but March /April will be when I start to see dividends in the trade. It already started when Lucic got into it with that puke Zadorov. One thing is for sure, Neal better play a little desperate, another year like last year & he wont be in the NHL.
Enjoy! Is there some cracker jack box medallion we can award you guys with?
